This series contains pamphlets and research papers originating in the Bureau of Juvenile Research. Research in these documents covers various topics related to delinquency, including "defective and nondefective" delinquency; types of delinquency from incorrigibility to murder; costs and causes of crime; mental examinations; family profiles; and statistics on committal rates to various institutions. Some research from the Bureau examines nondelinquent groups, such as the blind or feeble-minded. Also included is general research related to childrearing, such as attitude measures, literacy, and effects of broken homes.

The Bureau of Juvenile Research was established in 1914 under the auspices of the Ohio Board of Administration. Children committed to the Board of Administration could be assigned to the Bureau of Juvenile Research for the purpose of mental, physical, and other types of examinations.
